Today we celebrate another amazing release coming straight from Mr. Sean Hampson, who as you already know has been providing this blog with other great material in the past. Visit his dedicated Category to check them all.
This time it’s a great and potent show from the Superstar Car Wash tour, specifically the one which took place on Asbury Park, NJ, in April 1993. They boost a total of 19 songs. Let’s analyze a couple of things together:
- The song “We Are The Ooopss” is simply “We Are The Normal” which they stopped playing a few seconds into it, apparently because Robby was having issues with his instrument. They crack a few jokes before starting it again.
- “King Of The Road” makes another appearance. This is a cover of a 1965 song originally written by country singer Roger Miller. They played it quite a few times in their late 1980’s, early 1990’s shows.
- “Intro” and “Outro” is a tune by Rose Royce played in anticipation of the first song, and as a conclusion to the concert. The song is actually called “Car Wash“. I’m guessing the band chose it as it clearly references their 1993 album release.
In terms of quality, the whole release is quite excellent given the time and conditions it was recorded. I’m sure you will enjoy it a lot. You can listen to the whole release below, and download it using the links provided at the end of this post. Thanks again Sean for your precious contributions!

That setlist… WOW. Even at the tender age of 4 records, Robby already had too many great songs to narrow down to for his cuts on the set.
Quite a show eh? Glad people are finally getting to hear this stuff!
Can you repost this show? I think I started watching it but never finished. It’s really good quality and has a great setlist! (thanks to Sean for sharing it with us!!)
I checked the links and they are still working. It can be downloaded. For the Youtube video, it will be back but not sure when. The backup method I used was rushed and it makes it a mess to find specific videos. That is why I am uploading the entire catalog back as I go, without a certain order.
Totally fine with me
