Here comes another rare and amazing show, provided one again by Mr. Sean Hampson. He has been forwarding plenty of great stuff during the past few months, with more exciting releases being cooked as we speak and coming in the near future. Don’t forget to check his own dedicated Category to keep track of what he’s been sending over here so far.
Today’s post is about the performance at the 2002 Olympics, which took place in Salt Lake City on February, 22nd. This was a very interesting concert where the Goo Goo Dolls rocked hard by playing both new (at the time) songs and a few oldies. What’s notable here is “There You Are“, which exhibits one of, if not THE, best sounding executions I’ve heard in a long time.
Unfortunately, this version is missing the first three songs. Sean did not record them, and he shared what he had. Should I obtain a complete version in the future, I will certainly post it. For now, this is what we get, which is plenty given the fact that this concert has been very hard to find for a long, long time. I remember watching it on YouTube back in the day. Somebody posted the entire performance, and then suddenly it disappeared from the ether. Today, after many years, it has been found again thanks to Sean’s precious intervention.
In terms of audio quality, I’d say excellent with clear sounds and overall good balance between the instruments. You can listen to the concert below. Download links are provided at the end of this post. Thanks again Sean Hampson for the marvelous present!
