And here it is, another amazing content coming straight from our best source, Mr. Sean Hampson. This time we have a full video performance from the year which changed the band’s future (for the better), that is 1998.
Don’t forget to check Sean’s category page if you want to browse through the stuff he has been providing this blog with. It will be worth your time.
Now, on to the show. The “A Day In The Garden Festival” took place at the Max Yasgur’s Farm, Bethel, NY, USA, on August 16th, 1998. This one is a bit shorter when compared to the standard Goo Goo Dolls concerts we’re used to, which are usually comprised of 18-19 songs, if not more. Here we have only 13 in total, but the performance is very powerful and shows off a renewed overall confidence and energy which the band had began to lose the year prior, when big issues with their label had begun, making John et al. come to the decision to actually sue the latter.
This energetic performance is driven by impeccable executions of classic bangers such as “Lazy Eye“, “Stop The World“, “Naked“, and so forth. At some point, we also get to see an unfortunate event taking place, that is people from the crowd throwing stuff at the band members, with one bottle (I think?) missing John’s head by mere inches. Human stupidity will never cease to exist, even during entertainment / mindless activities.
This is a VHS rip with great audio and video quality. Keep in mind that there has been a conversion from an analog source to a digital one.
Sean created a poster / bootleg cover for this concert, which you can see below (I believe the date is wrong though):

You can watch the whole concert below. Download links are available at the end of this post.
I’m merely the messenger. You want to thank Sean for keeping on providing amazing stuff like this.
