Live At Maxwell’s, Hoboken, NJ (1991)

A few days ago we posted a live concert at Maxwell’s, in New Jersey, which took place in 1990. One year later, the Goo Goo Dolls returned to the same venue for another amazing show.

First and foremost, I want to thank user Javier, who forwarded me the link with the performance being posted today. The concert was taken directly from this page, called “The McKenzie Tapes“. Make sure to visit it and leave a like.

There is a setlist.fm entry for the show, but it comes with no track listing. The band played on March 9th, 1991 for slightly more than one hour, boosting a total of 24 (!!!) songs. Below is a collection of pictures taken from the aforementioned website, showing the original cassette it was ripped from.

In terms of audio quality, very good and clean, despite its age. One thing that stands out here is a cover for the MC Hammer hit song “U Can’t Touch This“. I find it very strange that they would play such tune. I personally never heard them do it before, and in a way they also seem to be a bit uncomfortable playing it, given the fact that they mess it up thrice throughout the execution. Furthermore, you want to check their performance for “My Girl“, which I find quite marvelous. Speaking of covers, “King Of The Road” by Roger Miller also makes an appearance. This is a song they often liked to play in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s.
