Here is a short, 10-song concert from the “Jed” era provided by none other than Mr. Sean Hampson himself.
First and foremost, don’t forget to check this directory with all of the releases Sean has been forwarding our way. For those who don’t know him, he is a Goo Goo Dolls fan from Canada who is kind (and altruistic) enough to provide The Temple Of Goo with the rare material in his possession. Do you also have stuff you’d like to share with other Goo fans from all over the world? Read how you can contribute here.
Today, Sean sent us a 1989 concert which took place in the band’s hometown, that is Buffalo, NY. I couldn’t find a setlist.fm entry for it, but my speculation is that it’s one of the first three shows listed here.
As far as the performance is concerned, what stands out here are basically two things:
- The high audio quality for the first seven songs. After that, it sounds like the recording was done using a different device, or maybe whoever recorded it moved to a different location. In fact, the last three songs do not sound as good as the previous section of the show.
- We get to hear a live version of “Beat Me“, which is quite rare indeed.
Overall, it’s a short concert but still very enjoyable, and rare too.
Thanks again Sean for the amazing release, as usual.
