Is this the first TV performance of “Iris”?

Today I received another message from user Javier, who has been sending us some very interesting insights as of late.

Javier forwarded a link to what may be the first TV appearance whereby the Goo Goo Dolls played their hit single “Iris”. Below is Javier’s detailed explanation.

This could be Iris’s first performance before it was released as a single!!!
First of all, we know that City Of Angels Soundtrack was released on March 31, 1998, and the song as a single in April.
Here the Dolls appear promoting the Soundtrack.
Second: – I relate a lot to the image of John because of his haircut with that of Iris’s promotional video, just like Robby’s black hair.
Third: – The drum set that Mike uses is the same as in this photo, because we could deduce that this presentation on MTV is before the song Iris was released as a Single.

P.D: – The dilemma is that it does not appear on the Setlist or on the Goo Goo Fans page, so due to the clothes and the style, it is well before the presentation in July at David Letterman.
