Two Days In February Turns Into Madness

Here we have yet another very interesting link sent to us by user Javier, who has been forwarding some cool stuff as of late.

As usual, Javier has also provided us with a detailed explanation of the content and its context, so I will not add further information about it and let him do the talking (writing). What I will mention is that this is one of the few times I have heard either John or Robby publicly thanking their former drummer George Tutuska for his past services. If you are curious as to what his real role in the band was (spoiler: not just that of the mere drummer), make sure to read our blog’s most viewed post here.

On top of that, this is the first time I’ve heard “Two Days In February” being played with an electric guitar, rather than an acoustic one.

Below is Javier’s message. Thanks a lot for the precious link.

The Goo Goo Dolls Live In Jacksonville Naval Air Station presenting Two Days In February !!!

This video has been on Youtube for several years, and I consider it quite strange, according to the User who uploaded it, he was in charge of recording said concert, it was in the last part of the Dizzy Up The Girl tour in 2000.

But when reviewing both in GooGooFans and Setlist I did not find any concert held in Jacksonville that year, so I consulted the list from last year to this, 1999 and yes, they had performed on September 17 in that place, then surely it is from that date.

We found Johnny giving a dedication to George, who is the guy who is doing the video and image proof test for the live performance, but a user who commented on the video contradicts it and explains that it is a dedication to George (George Tutuska), the first drummer of the Goo Goo Dolls with whom they recorded the 5 albums prior to DUTG since said song was composed by both the three members of the band, including drummer George.

It’s a bit of a strange video, since this may be a fully recorded concert or it may not be and this is just a small “snippet” of the concert in general, I have several doubts about it. In the course of the song Johnny and Robby change the meaning of the song to Punk and go crazy, Johnny using the Phaser that he uses on Dizzy, the song with which he opens the concerts during the tour and finally decides to finish the song throwing the guitar on the curtain behind him, this reminded me of Live in Buffalo in 2004 when they did almost the same thing about going crazy at the end of the song, but the difference is that Johnny throws his guitar on stage.

Here the link of the presentation in Jacksonville.

P.S: The guitar model that Johnny uses is interesting, a white Fender Stratocaster, that color is not so usual in the presentations of said tour, almost always with his ESP Yellow Strat painted in another color or his Epiphone that he uses for Broadway and a Fender Glitter and black Stratocaster.

He left in this link another concert from the following year, 2000 held in Syracuse, filmed from the audience, it sounds far away but it’s the only thing I could find from that year.

Thanks and regards, long live Goo Goo Dolls

Javier
