Sometimes, all it takes is the single push of a button

Dear Temple Of Goo readers, today I have to report an ongoing problem I’ve been having for a little while. In the spirit of transparency, it is a righteous practice informing you all of what could possibly become a half-fulfilled promise I recently made.

A few weeks ago I published this post, where I announced a special Goo Goo Dolls release to celebrate this blog’s first birthday. First and foremost, let me state that the present will be delivered on the date claimed in that message, that is April 27th, 2023.

However, due to an issue I will be detailing below, unfortunately the release has to be cut in half.

The Temple Of Goo’s first anniversary was supposed to feature a special 30+ songs compilation for everyone to enjoy, as a way to honor this website’s short, yet eventful life span. Some days ago, as I was preparing the release, I accidentally pressed the wrong button on my PC and, in the blink of an eye, half of those songs got lost in the ether… forever.

That’s all it takes for a disaster to unfold in front of your eyes when using a Windows machine: the single push of a button.

As the compilation was basically split into two folders, one of them got completely wiped. Ever since my mistake, I have been trying to recoup the lost part in every possible way, but so far have been unable to. This is sad and also frustrating, as I was looking forward to make it fully available to all of you in its complete form.

While all is NOT lost, that is there is a possibility I can find the missing songs again, for the time being I have decided to split the release into two parts: Part I will be published accordingly as stated above, while Part II in a (hopefully near) future after having gathered the lost folder.

We’re humans, we make mistakes. I wish I had been more farsighted, and opted to make a backup copy of the whole release just in case. This is certainly a lesson I have learned the hard way.

As the 27th is approaching fast, I will make good use of the time I have until release day to continue my search for the lost part. Should I be able to put my hands on it for a second time, you can obviously ignore this message as I will post the entire thing. Let’s see what happens in the coming days, and let’s hope for the best.
