Live At The Alltel Pavilion At Walnut Creek, Raleigh, NC (2002)

We finally have the chance to publish one of the “Gutterflower” tour concerts, which for whatever reason seem quite hard to find.

On August 28th, 2002, the Goo Goo Dolls performed at the Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek, Raleigh, NC. Four years after the worldwide success of “Dizzy Up The Girl”, the band finally issued their seventh effort, and with it came the burden to demonstrate once again their fame was well-deserved. I think this concert shows off such vigor, aimed at proving to the masses they could stay on cloud 9 for a little longer.

This bootleg boasts a total of 22 songs, most of which come from the then-last three albums. Running time is an astonishing 86 minutes.

It’s a show filled with energy and passion. Quality-wise, it’s very good. I wish whoever recorded it were closer to the stage though. Nevertheless, the overall value is quite high.

You can listen to the concert below. Download links are available at the end of this post.

  1. Gutterflower is an underrated record. It definitely rubs shoulders with their earlier, more respected records, embracing quite a hard rock sound in places (What do you need? Truth is a whisper). It’s also the last time we really hear those faster tempo rock songs you could bank on from Robby, before the edge was diluted from his efforts.

The quality nosedived after Gutterflower. Fell off a cliff. Such a shame 😦
