Soundcloud Collection (2010-2013)

The Goo Goo Dolls made plenty of radio appearances throughout their long career. Some of them have been uploaded to the famous Soundcloud portal. Today, I am sharing with you the ones I have that were posted on the aforementioned website, which span from 2010 to 2013.

“Soundcloud Collection” features five different releases put into a single compilation, for slightly more than 70 minutes of content. These are radio shows which have hosted the band and were released in 2010, 2011, and 2013. Each episode is usually comprised of live performances and interviews with the band members.

The five appearances I have compiled together are:

Let’s analyze them one by one.

A Night With The Goo Goo Dolls features a total of five live takes:

  1. Slide
  2. Home
  3. Smash
  4. Sweetest Lie
  5. As I Am

Live From 97.3 KBCO Studio C is a 10-minute show featuring an interview and live performances of:

  1. All That You Are
  2. Broadway

Live From The Live Hive on Live 105, Halifax is a 13-minute show featuring an interview and only one live performance:

  1. Slide

Live On Mix 100.7, Tampa features very short interviews segments (less than two minutes each) and live performances of:

  1. Slide
  2. Rebel Beat

Finally, Live On Z103, Halifax is an 18-minute show featuring an interview and live performances of:

  1. Something For The Rest Of Us
  2. Notbroken

The audio quality is overall quite good. What’s interesting here is what the band has to say. I will not write any spoilers as I want you to listen to the whole shows and enjoy them without relying on my interpretation of their claims.

The problem I have with these rips is that they all come with 128kbps bitrate encoding, which is quite low compared to today’s standards. Being radio rips, I guess at the end of the day it doesn’t even matter that much, as the original source is certainly not one capable of streaming at high frequencies in the first place. Anyhow, I thought I’d tell you straight up, in case there are audiophiles amongst you (which I’m sure they’ll be quite pissed about it).

Shows 2, 3, and 5 come as single files featuring the entire episodes, rather than being split depending on the track that was being played.
