The bootleg we publish today is actually the most recent one being posted on the blog. It’s a 2019 show which took place in Mexico. For its audiovisual counterpart, click here.
On May 11th, 2019, the Goo Goo Dolls performed at the Explanada Estadio Akron, in Zapopan. Curiously enough, most of the songs the band played in that occasion came from their breakthrough album “Dizzy Up The Girl”. We get only a few from efforts which back then were more recent, and not even one from “Miracle Pill” which was released the same year.
It’s also worth mentioning that this was a pretty short concert, comprised of only twelve songs, with Robby getting to sing only one of them.
Overall, it’s a quite nice performance that to me seems more like some kind of introduction of the band to the attendees, rather than a typical Goo Goo Dolls concert. It actually makes sense, as according to setlist.fm they played in that country for the first time ever exactly two days before this event, in Monterrey.
Quality-wise, the recording is very good, with clear instruments and vocals. In my opinion, it would have been better if it were a bit louder. Nonetheless, this is certainly a very well-produced effort.
