Looking for… A Lackawanna, NY very important show

Today I received an email from user Shawn. He is looking for a bootleg, specifically for this 1991 concert.

Shawn sent a very detailed message, which I have pasted below. He was actually one of the attendees in that special occasion. His request will be added to the Bootleg Watch page as well. Hopefully someone out there has it, and will offer it to us so everyone else can enjoy it.

I am trying to recall, what year it was, but I saw the Goo’s at a show they did I think in 1991 or so at the Towne Theatre in Lackawanna, NY. – http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/23804 – The theatre was torn down and is now a Walgreens or Napa.

I think this may be the show – https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-goo-goo-dolls/1991/towne-theater-lackawanna-ny-3bc46488.html This is probably the show because I had graduated in June 1991 and had left work early to go to this show.
Anyhow, as I recall, someone taped this show because I was stage diving and I remember seeing a camera before I dove. Whether any tapes survived all these years is a huge question mark.

This was a really big show for them because it was a place they used to hang out as kids if I recall. It was packed and sold out as I recall. I remember hanging around with one of their crew guys before the show that looked like Elvis. I haven’t seen anything from this show at all online. This was the first show from them that I had an idea of where they were going, they seemed sober and focused (which was rare). I think there were 3 openers (Doughboys??)

I was a guitarist myself, and I saw them quite a few times at the Skyroom (it was the Salty Dog before that) on Seneca St. I am not sure if you have any contact info for anyone from the Skyroom, but they almost always gave the band a direct tape from the house soundboard, so there are probably more than a few out there.
I wish they came out with smartphones in the 80’s because there were so many shows lost to history because nobody had cameras.

  1. I know it has got to be somewhere out there! Shawn I will look for it with you! That sounds really interesting and I’m very into the earlier Goo Goo Dolls. Unfortunately I don’t own any bootlegs but I’ve found some interesting things online. You never know, maybe someone has it.
