Live At The Rose Music Center At The Heights, Huber Heights, OH (2022)

There is a first time for everything. Today, the Temple Of Goo dips its toes into the latest live incarnation of the band, by sharing a 2022 concert.

Those who have been reading this blog for a while know that it mainly focuses on older material. However, to spice things up and to diversify, it is also a good practice to get out of one’s comfort zone and explore once in a while.

I recently came upon a couple of 2022 bootlegs which are actually very good. This is the perfect occasion to check out how the latest version of the Goo Goo Dolls sounds live.

The concert I am sharing today took place on August 3rd, 2022 at the Rose Music Center in Ohio. This was part of their summer tour and boosts a total of 22 songs for more than an hour and a half of content.

More importantly, we get to listen to the live versions of some of the new songs from the latest full length album “Chaos In Bloom”, a release which in a way (in my personal opinion) signals the band’s intention to return to a more rock-oriented, raw sound with the following studio endeavors which hopefully will come in the near future.

As far as the show itself, I like the set list. It is clear they tried to keep it as diversified as possible. I find it a bit sad the oldest album they picked tunes from was their 1993 masterpiece, and the only song off of it is the same they have been playing from so many years now (“Lucky Star“). I was hoping for more older songs to make a comeback, as there is plenty of material from “Jed” or “Hold Me Up” fans would have loved to (re)hear after it’s been put on hiatus for so long, but sadly that tour was not the case.

Quality-wise, extremely good. Clean and polished.
