Today we have a very interesting YouTube link forwarded to us by contributor Bailey. The Goo Goo Dolls performing a song from their then-newest album “A Boy Named Goo”.
Contrary to what the clip title states, this is likely a 1996 TV performance. Let’s hear Bailey’s thoughts about it first:
Now I’d seen this performance before, but here’s the thing: the person who posted it posted it as an unlisted video, so I’m not even sure how I found it again.
This is a really really neat performance of Eyes wide Open live on the Conan O’Brian show in 1996. The person who posted it titled it as ’95, but as you can see in the video, John’s hair was short, so I believe it was 1996. Also, the quality isn’t the greatest, but it’s acceptable.
The thing I really like about Mr. O’Brian is that he didn’t make bands perform their most popular songs. We can also see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5FDanMvxu8 (also a rare performance in 1994)
Like she mentioned in her comments, it is likely you won’t be able to search for this video on the platform unless you actually have a direct link to it. That is due to the fact that the clip has been shared as an unlisted one, that is still public but exempt from search queries. A direct link to it can be found by clicking here.
