It’s time to share some more “recent” material from the Goo Goo Dolls. Specifically, a 2018 concert in Poland which comes with amazing audio and video quality.
On August 2nd, 2018 John et al. performed at the famous Pol’And’Rock Festival in the town of Czaplinek. In this occasion, the set list is a bit shorter than we’re used to, totaling 16 songs including the encore one.
That was actually the first time the band had played in Poland, a country with which John has a profound relationship, being his ancestors’ home before immigrating to the USA. If memory serves well, John also speaks a bit of Polish too.
In terms of the concert itself, we get a little mixture of songs from “A Boy Named Goo” to the then-latest effort “Boxes”. “Dizzy Up The Girl” gets the most takes, maybe because by that time the band was in the middle of their 20th anniversary tour in honor of the release which changed their lives.
What stands out here is the overall quality of the video, which comes with Full HD standard (1080p) and great audio as well.
My understanding is that the performance was streamed live on YouTube. I am not sure about the source from which the release I got comes from. However, I doubt it came from the streaming platform itself, being the final file too big in dimensions for a YouTube rip (more than 2.5 GB’s). In my opinion, this is a Satellite TV rip, as implied by the perpetual logo on the top right of the screen.
The version I got also included cover pictures of what I believe may have been some sort of home-made (?) BluRay release:
