John Rzeznik commenting on old Goo footage, from “Before They Were Rock Stars”

Contributor Bailey forwarded a YouTube link featuring John Rzeznik commenting on old Goo footage.

I am not sure in terms of when the show “Before They Were Rock Stars” did an episode about the Goo Goo Dolls. Judging from the clip itself, I would say this is probably 2002/2003 material.

Bailey sent us her comments about it, which you can read below:

The second video I’m going to share with you today is one of my favorite interviews from the ’00 era of the Dolls. And, not to mention, they show a little bit of footage from the Goos live at the Rocker Room in 1987 (!!). Still on the lookout for the show, and if anyone has it, I would love if you would share with us!

Anyway, the point of this interview was for Johnny to watch old footage from the early days of Goo and give his commentary. He tells us a bit about the Rocker Room, a performance at different clubs in ’89 (one with Lance Diamond, too). There was one near the end where John was playing his guitar in a cast, and the date says “1991” but I believe that was actually ’87. It was at the Continental, too. Some neat footage, although, I’m sorry to say, isn’t the best quality.

This is indeed quite rare footage, especially for those interested in pre-“A Boy Named Goo” stuff. Too bad about the quality.
