Today we have a very interesting YouTube link forwarded to us by contributor Bailey, that is an appearance the band made back in 2002 on a TV show.
John et al. took part to the eighth episode of the eighth season of The Drew Carey Show, a sitcom which ran from 1995 to 2004.
Bailey also sent a comment along with the link, which I pasted below:
Alright, today I’ve got a few different things to share. The first being the “Drew Carey” one. So, the Dolls featured on the Drew Carey show…that video had been on my watch later forever, and today I came across it and thought “huh, I don’t know why I’ve never watched this before”, so I did, and it’s a pretty neat (and funny) clip. So, the show opens to the Dolls performing the end to “Here Is Gone”. The unique thing about this is, they’re actually playing it live, not just lip syncing. I’m not really familiar with the Drew Carey show, but apparently they were at a friends wedding, and one of their friends got drunk and was trying to say some nice things to the happy couple, some jokes are cracked (via John). I won’t spoil that part for you, though. At the end, too, John’s sitting with his guitar (his beautiful D55!) and more jokes are cracked. Even though John’s not an actor, (heh heh, he’s admitted to this multiple times) he still makes things funny.
I’ll leave it at that for that video, so I don’t spoil it.
Personally, this is the first time I have heard of this cameo. Overall, I think it’s pretty cool. We also get to see a little bit of acting from John, who appears to feel comfortable enough in that show context by also cracking a few jokes here and there.
You can watch the clip below. Thanks again Bailey for the input.
