Signed 2001 Promo Photo

Dear Temple Of Goo readers,

In the Q&A session I did with contributor Sean Hampson, I mentioned that one of the most prized Goo Goo Dolls items in my possession is a signed promo photo. I also promised that I would have posted it here in the near future. The time has come.

To promote the release of the remastered compilation “What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce“, in 2001 the band initiated a contest. Selected winners would receive a signed promo photo from a photoshoot the band specifically made for the album. I don’t remember the details of the contest itself, but it was something really simple like write a message about why you like the band, or a similar proposition, including your mailing info.

Like many, I participated and lo and behold, after a few weeks I received an email which informed me I was among those selected to receive the item, which I scanned below.

Along with it came also a brief thank-you letter:

Those were good days indeed. I was actually very surprised to have won their contest, as if I remember correctly thousands of applicants took part to it. Some Goo luck once in a while is nice, I’ll take it!
