Robby Takac 1996 interview, plus an Easter egg

Today we share a short, yet very cool interview bassist and vocalist Robby Takac did in 1996. Contributor Bailey sent us the material. Within the clip, there is also an Easter egg.

Bailey forwarded her comments along with the YouTube link, so I will just let her do the talking. I will only clarify that around the 1:00 minute mark, there is a 10-second clip of a 1994 concert the band did in December. I wrote about that year in the past, detailing why I consider it a pivotal one. Anything coming from that year is very rare indeed. Anyhow, let’s hear it from Bailey.

You can find this video and more on her YouTube channel.

So, I’ve actually been looking for this specific interview for a while since I saw someone put a clip in one of their videos a long time ago. (It featured the end part, which I won’t spoil for you) Anyway, Robby Goo got interviewed at the Funhouse in. . .not sure which city, but he told the interviewer they’d be playing the St. Pete the following night, so probably somewhere around there. Funniest part, I think, is the fact that he’s drunk (I mean, I don’t know for sure, but it’s kind of obvious), and is acting even funnier than usual. He talks the “big upcoming rock show”, touring, drinking out of test tubes (haha), etc. There wasn’t much discussed since Robby kept changing the subject haha.
I think this might excite you, though. We get to see a clip from a show the Goo Goo Dolls performed in Buffalo, December 8th, 1994 (!!).

I found the setlist.fm entry for it. But it’s incomplete. We don’t have any list of songs they played, or anything like that…but it’s a start. They definitely could’ve been debuting a couple new songs off of ABNG…and I’m pretty sure this was one of the last shows they did with George :(. There could be more footage out there. The part I saw definitely looked professionally filmed, or at least a good crowd-filmed show.

I have to agree with her comment regarding George’s last show, which actually took place on a New Year’s Eve event, like we discussed in his dedicated post.

Thanks for the material Bailey!
