A Debut Performance Of “Dizzy” And A Cool Rare 1989 Photo

Today we share a couple of very cool finds from contributor Bailey.

In 1999 the Goo Goo Dolls released the single for “Dizzy“, and they even filmed a video clip for it. Apparently, Bailey found a YouTube link which could represent the TV debut of the song before it officially became a single. Furthermore, she also forwarded a great 1989 photo in its entirety, given the fact that so far only a cropped version of it had been shared. Enough from me, let’s hear it directly from her:

Hello again!

Well since you posted those debut performances of Superstar Car Wash tunes I thought I’d add to the collection. I found this video a couple weeks ago but debated sharing it because it was recorded from a tv—not ripped. The footage is extremely rare though, and looked like it was really high definition too!

I suspect that this was the very first performance of Dizzy right before it was released as a single. People were obviously quite looking forward to it because they were ecstatic! You can hear it in the crowd! I did send a comment to the channel encouraging them to please please rip it, but a lot of people never get back to me that way, so this is probably the best we’re going to get

This was posted by TJ.

Side note, the “hey hey it’s Saturday” was the show they were performing on—somewhere in Australia. I’ll have to find the interview posted with this.
**Also, the audio is really really quiet so you’re going to need to turn your volume up…

Anyway, speaking of rare pictures, I found this picture and felt very excited about it, since I KNEW the original was a crop out, but could never find the full thing! Now I have.

This is from 1989 and the only part I’ve ever seen was of Johnny. Here we can see a shirtless Robby, John playing his rose guitar and a wild crowd. If I could make a guess, I’d say this was the continental, just because of the setup.

That’s all I have for today.
Stay gooey,
Bailey
