Name (Original Stems, 1995)

One of the most famous Goo Goo Dolls songs is finally dissected down do its molecules. Today we share the original stems for it, straight from the album’s master.

First and foremost, let us refresh our memory with this post which explains what stems are and the pivotal difference between original ones and their AI-generated counterpart.

For the beautiful ballad “Name“, a tune which launched the band into stardom in the mid-90’s, we are proud to present its original stems coming directly from the master of the album. Let’s analyze what the release is comprised of:

  • It contains a total of 6 stems: Drums 1, Drums 2, Drums 3, Guitar, Rhythm, and Song.
  • The three Drums tracks break down the whole drumming section of the song into each different component used to make it. I am no musician so I wouldn’t know how to name each of them.
  • Guitar is pretty self-explanatory. However, you want to check the Song stem as well as it appears to be somewhat incomplete since there are two acoustic guitars present, and only one is included in this stem.
  • Rhythm is basically the Bass instrument.
  • Song is comprised of vocals, though there is also an instrument taken from one of the Drums parts, plus when the bridge kicks in, a second acoustic guitar is also present.

I know there are musicians out there who are interested into breaking down Goo Goo Dolls songs to perfect their execution. I hope these stems will provide them with some sort of aid during their cover sessions.

Keep your eyes peeled, as we have at least one more original stem coming here at the Temple pretty soon.
