A Performance At Hard Rock Live (1998) Plus Various Pictures

Today we share another great find from contributor Bailey, that is a rare performance the band did in 1998, plus some photos we can now add to our archive.

Bailey found a YouTube video featuring live takes the Goo Goo Dolls recorded for VH1 Hard Rock Live. You can check the setlist.fm entry for it here. Let’s read her comments about it below:

Hello again!

Congrats on getting your first interview! That was actually great, and now me—and I’m sure lots of others—know a lot more about what to expect from “unplugged” and the upcoming performance. And it’s great that they’ll be filming it! I’m sure Paul and his band mates knew how many people would love to see the show, even if they live no where near Buffalo (like me…).

Today I just wanted to share a rare VHS rip posted on YouTube about two years ago. I found it a long time ago, but completely forgot about it. I think it was a great performance, about a week before Dizzy Up The Girl was released (I’m not 100% sure but I think this was filmed on September 14, 1998. Or perhaps aired that date). They played some new songs, plus we get a few thoughts from the band between songs. The songs played were:

Long Way Down
Name
Slide
Broadway
Iris

**Maybe this was also the performance of slide from Hard Rock you didn’t the date to?

On top of that, she also forwarded a few pictures, including a never-seen-before 1993 one.

Just as a special addition, I’ll add some pictures with this, since I’ve found some good ones in the past month.

First, I’m going to feed the large Superstar Car Wash photo collection with a 1993 shot of Robby. Funny thing is, for the longest time I thought this photo was on the Temple, but I really don’t believe it is! Well, here you have it, in all of its glory. This was during their show in downtown Buffalo (Lafayette Square) with Lance Diamond.

I also have this ABNG promo which I’ve shared before but this is a better quality version. See, I like this picture, but I don’t know about Johnny’s pants…!

These three are of Johnny in 1999. My favorite is the first one, where he shows his punk side while playing during a show.

This is all for today!
Bailey

Thanks a lot Bailey for sharing these gems with the Temple!
