Contributor Bailey sent us another YouTube link which represents a great find from the “Gutterflower” days.
Apparently, John et al. did a live session with musician and actor Chris Isaak sometime in 2002 or 2003. Firstly, let’s hear what Bailey has to say:
Hello!
I finally found it! I remember you mentioning to the public that the Goos (or Johnny) had performed with Chris Isaac sometime around the Gutterflower tour, maybe in 2003, or 2002. I knew I’d seen a clip of them performing together, but couldn’t seem to find it! Today I come to you…and have found it again!
Well, it’s about 1:30 long, but we get to see John singing backup for Isaac, as well as playing the guitar. I thought it was only him, but at about the 1:10 mark you see Robby’s happy smiling face and bright red hair bouncing around behind the keyboards. I think he was playing some sort of percussion. I didn’t see Mike at all, but this video is in 240p-not good definition—so it’s hard to tell.
**Apparently this song is called “Blue Hotel”, which I don’t personally know, but Chris Isaac fans out there might. This is a really cool performance and wish I could see more! If anyone has any other part of this show, please share!!
In this clip they are playing the song “Blue Hotel“, from Isaak’s catalog. I remember in the early 2000’s there was an audio circulating around of another live take the Goo Goo Dolls did with Isaak, for a different song written by the latter. It was for “I See You Everywhere” from Isaak’s album “Always Got Tonight“, released in 2001.
“I See You Everywhere” shared the same fate of the Videopimped videos I talked about here, that is come and suddenly gone from the internet. It has now become one of those rare contents which are very hard to find.
I never knew there was also a clip for “Blue Hotel“, just like Bailey found, it makes me think maybe there is a full recording of the whole event somewhere. The hunt is on.
Thanks a lot Bailey for the very interesting material!
