John and Robby are back on TV as hosts once again. This time, they diverge from their primary passion, that is music, and have some fun discussing another topic: movies.
The next release from contributor Christina is a peculiar one. It is not the first time John and Robby act as hosts of a given TV program. Examples include:
This one aired on IFC in 2002, when the band’s seventh album had just been released. Christina offers some more details about today’s video:
This was a movie marathon weekend on the IFC channel featuring some cult classic films, and hosted by John and Robby. Robby comments on it here. These are the various introductions they did for the films, as well as a contest advertisement that played throughout the weekend.
I’m missing the intro to the film “Donald Cammell: The Ultimate Performance.” The other six are all represented.
Apologies for the poor sound & tape flutter on the final movie intro, this must’ve aired late at night and was recorded with the volume turned way down.
This is interesting stuff because it allows for deeper insights into the band members’ opinions on matters they rarely get the chance to talk about.
As far as the video is concerned, this is another VHS rip coming with the standardized 640x480p encoding format. In my opinion the quality here is quite good, even though a portion of the clip has some issues, like Christina mentioned above.
