Our contributor Christina shares with us another one of the many TV appearances the band made in-between “Dizzy Up The Girl” and “Gutterflower”. Today’s video can be considered very different from those we have published so far, so come mentally prepared because we’re talking politics here.
When it comes to politics and the ways the Goo Goo Dolls look at it, I believe statements from any of the band members have been seldom and rarely offered in a context where an in-depth analysis on the matter was utilized. Needless to say, “Flat Top” was the only song in their catalog which clearly makes specific references to it.
The video we publish today is a TV appearance John made in the year 2000 at one of Bill Maher‘s programs, “Politically Incorrect“, which only ran for nine years before getting shelved. Christina offers some more details about the release:
The title of this talk show kind of speaks for itself. If for some reason you want to hear a political roundtable chat featuring Bill Maher, John Rzeznik, Debbie Schlussel, Lars Ulrich, and Dennis Miller circa the 2000 US presidential primaries… well, here it is. Personally I found this a bit torturous to watch, and John doesn’t talk much, but maybe someone else will find it more interesting than I did. I didn’t want to cut John’s comments out of context, so here is the entire discussion portion of the show.
I concur and found it a bit too tedious for my tastes. Nonetheless, this is good material for those who are interested in John’s mindset when it comes to matters related to politics and the likes. Either way, we archive this one as well, because it is not watchable on any other platforms that I know of.
This is a VHS rip coming with the standardized 640x480p encoding format. Overall, a pretty nice ripping job, with good quality.
