VH1 Grammy Awards (Preview + Interview, 2000)

The next release from contributor Christina features two short interviews taken during the worldwide famous Grammy Awards, specifically the 42nd edition, which took place in 2000.

After “Dizzy Up The Girl” reached planet-wide success, John et al. began obtaining invitations to numerous music-related events, as they started to compete for awards and recognition against some of the biggest Rock bands of the era. One of those events was the Grammy Awards, a Los Angeles-based ceremony that in 2000 was being aired by VH1.

Christina sent us a couple of clips from it: a preview session with John and the Red Carpet interview during the ceremony itself. Let’s hear it directly from her for more info:

In 2000, the Goos got a Grammy nomination for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group,” for the song “Black Balloon.” They were defeated by Santana who had an infamously unstoppable Grammy streak that year, taking home eight awards. John sat down with VH1 for a moment to discuss the direction of rock music and the surge of rap rock bands at the turn of the millennium. Ellen DeGeneres interviews the GGDs on the Grammys red carpet. They mostly talk about their “silly name” but they’re in good spirits.

These are obviously VHS rips which come with the standardized 640x480p encoding format. Quality-wise, the preview parts looks overall quite good, while the red carpet one is more pixellated. They’re both certainly watchable and enjoyable.

Christina forwarded a video clip for each session. I utilized a program to merge the two clips into a bigger, unified one. This was done in a lossless way with specific software, so no quality degradation has taken place during the process. In the download links below, I actually included both the two original files and the unified one, for transparency purposes.

You can watch the video below. Download links are available at the end of this post.
