Contributor Bailey has sent us a couple of video clips taken from the famous “Before They Were Rock Stars” documentary. We have already shared a partial version of it, and a clip about John making comments on older material. Today, we add more pieces to make up a somewhat more complete edition.
Along with “Behind The Music“, this is certainly one of the very few Goo Goo Dolls documentary that offer deep insights into how the band was before they made it big in the late 1990’s. Bailey has found a couple of snippets taken from the full version, and she explains all about the below:
Hello!
So excited to see your blog’s getting even more contributors! Want to welcome Ryne. Wow, it’s been over a year and a half since I first sent those high school pictures of the Goos to you…and man my collection has grown a lot since then!
Today I have two really cool videos to share! These were posted by a really cool channel Oceans of Color (who I think I’ve shared content from before). When she shared these I just instantly fell in love! This first one I’ve been looking for forever because of this screenshot I found forever ago: (Pictures not included)
The video itself is just as funny as the picture! As as a way to promote the upcoming episode, Rzeznik has some folks try to guess who the teen in the poster is, which of course, is him. Ha, he seems very embarrassed by it which makes it even funnier—he wasn’t even an ugly kid!
Anyway, here’s the video:
The second video is just as funny. It also includes a good chunk of the video I’ve been dying to get my hands on: the Rocker Room from 1987! We see a clip of it in the other Before they were rock stars John did a few years after this. There were also some rare pictures I’m now on the hunt for (and maybe you have seen them?) (Pictures not included)
The first one actually had George in it but I couldn’t get a good shot of all of them…second one is of Robby and I think is really funny.
It also had snippets from this Photoshoot, which is my most wanted photoshoot at the moment: (Pictures not included)Oh my gosh they’re just so adorable in all the little screenshots I have. This is apparently the first photoshoot they did to shop their tapes to record companies in New York. Very very rare and a big milestone for this band. If ANYONE knows where it is, please please share the info!
Here is the video as well:
Enjoy!
Bailey
You always find great stuff, Bailey. Kudos. 🙂
