Live At The Warner Theatre, Washington, DC (2002)

We have another release from contributor Ryne, who is on a roll as of late. This is another concert from the “Gutterflower” era, packed with a total of 22 songs for an unforgettable live performance.

On June 9th, 2002 the Goo Goo Dolls were deep into their seventh album touring sessions. John et al. played at the famous Warner Theater in the Capital City. Contrary to what the setlist.fm entry displays, the show actually featured 22 songs (“Here Is Gone” has been omitted from the list) for a total running time of about 90 minutes. Ryne has some thoughts about it:

Hey!

For this Release, We’re going back to an Audio-Only show for you fellas.

Today we come back to the Gutterflower Tour, With you an Audio-Only bootleg of the June 9th, 2002 Warner Theatre show, from Washington, DC.

This show certainly had some energy to it. And the 21 song Set contained a fairly large number of songs from not only the then-current Record, But a nice number of songs from DUTG and ABNG.
Along with a couple others.

Seems like this is the only known time that the GGDs have played at this particular Venue, According to research.

Either way, Audio Quality i suppose is alright. A bit on the Lossy or Muffled side, But certainly listenable.

Hope you enjoy this one. 🙂

I concur with his comment about the audio. I’d say the release is definitely listenable but from time to time you may encounter some distortion here and there. This was likely a crowd recording rather than a soundboard one. Too bad, because the concert is a really great one, filled with energy and very well executed.

One thing to mention is that the band only played the song “Truth Is A Whisperon their 2002 concerts before dismissing it from their live set lists for good. As the tune is featured here, this is a great way to enjoy it in case you have never heard a live version for it.

Funny bit during the concert: John introducing “January Friend” as a song from “Superstar Car Wash”, Robby is unsure as well whether or not it comes from that album but claims he knows it was about a trip in Hawaii.
