Live At The Roy Wilkins Auditorium, St. Paul, MN (1996)

The next release from contributor Ryne is a 1996 concert which took place during the last leg of their tour to promote “A Boy Named Goo”.

On February 7th, 1996 the band was in Minnesota, specifically at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, to perform during their fifth album North American tour. This concert was actually a pretty short one, with a total of only 12 songs, out of which 9 came from their then-latest release. This seems to be mainly aimed at introducing the audience to the songs from “A Boy Named Goo” more than offer the attending crowd with a general overview of what the band’s catalog was all about. Ryne has some thoughts to share about it:

The funny thing about this show is, The setlist website lists the venue as ‘Unknown’. But if you look around elsewhere, Particularly for Bush/No Doubt, You’ll find info on the Venue.

The show seems like it was a great one, With the 12 song set being majority ABNG. I did also find a poster from Feb ’96, So a little something to go along with this release.

Audio quality is okay, I think, Even with a set that is only 12 songs long.

In terms of audio quality, the volume was overall pretty low according to my ears so you might want to pop it up quite a bit. This is certainly a crowd recording which was likely taken from someone located quite far from the stage. The .mp3 file is a single, big one featuring the entire show and comes with a 192kbps encoding format, which is not the standardized 320kbps one, but in this case I wouldn’t worry too much about it since for bootlegs like this one it rarely would make a difference.

I think the band played very well here, and this is certainly a great performance we are glad to add to our ever-growing archive.
