We can enjoy another full video performance from contributor Ryne. It’s time to focus on more “recent” Goo Goo Dolls concerts with a 2016 show from their “Boxes” tour.
On November 12th, 2016 the band was in Ohio, specifically at the Express Live! venue, as part of the tour for their then-latest release. Ryne has more details to share about it:
Today I bring us back to a more recent Tour, With a video from the Boxes Tour in 2016.
As I’ve mentioned before, I have a personal attachment to the GGD’s Boxes Tour, Because it was the tour where I saw them live for the first time. And certainly the band saw a few great shows during the course of 2016.
Why the decided to call the 2017 leg of the tour the ‘Long Way Home’ tour, Instead of the 2017 Boxes Tour, I still don’t exactly know.
But for today’s release, I have a video instead of an audio-only bootleg from the 2016 leg of the Tour. And its from the Express Live! Show in November of that year.
In terms of the video, Audio and Video Quality are both fairly decent. One of the things I notice myself: You can tell the Band Must have been hyped or something, When I notice in particular that they don’t play the last part of ‘Long Way Down’ quite right.
lol, I guess maybe that can happen if the energy in a show is up there.
But yeah, A great setlist as well, A nice mixture of Old and New. With an appearance of ‘Already There’ from Superstar Carwash.
Hope you guys like this one. π
This was a pretty packed concert with a total of 22 songs clocking in at around 95 minutes. Like Ryne said, it’s nice to see “Already There” make a comeback. For those who didn’t know, at some point the latter was considered as a possible single by John et al for “Superstar Car Wash”, but the label decided to go with “We Are The Normal” instead. During the concert, Robby introduces the song and plays it in honor of the actual car wash which was demolished that very same year.
I am not sure about the source for this video, I am speculating this was a Satellite broadcast given the pretty good quality it comes with. It certainly is not your typical attendee/amateur-shot footage, given the fact there are professional cameramen operating the equipment.
I would have expected a higher video resolution for it, given its source, however the file comes with 640x360p encoding, which is even lower than your typical VHS rip. The high bitrate for it does however compensate for the lower size, making the show look pretty nice overall.

It may have been shot by Stage Cam, And possibly soundboard. I do often see shows where you see people on and off the stage with Cameras shooting the concert.
This may be why it looks professionally shot.
