After turning off the Temple’s engines for a couple of weeks, it is now time to restart the machine with a full video performance from 1996, courtesy of collaborator Ryne (whom today is also celebrating his birthday).
On April 13th, 1996 the Goo Goo Dolls were playing in their hometown as the “A Boy Named Goo” tour was slowly coming to its end. This is another one of those short concerts which seem to be more of an introductory sessions to their then-latest release rather than a typical one. Let’s see what Ryne has to say about it:
Hey Fellas! Got another Video/VHS Rip for ya. I hope you enjoy stuff from the ‘Boy Named Goo’ tour, Because that’s where today’s release is from.
We have the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium show from 1996. Its got a setlist of a reasonable length for you, at 13 songs. But said setlist has a few great songs, Including a performance of the cover song ‘Don’t Change’ by INXS.
In terms of Quality, I’d say both video and audio are fair in Quality. Perhaps you’ll get some muffling or distortion, But that’s to be expected for VHS rips like this one.
Hope you enjoy!
With the majority of the songs coming from “A Boy Named Goo”, this is actually a pretty nice show which also features one of the last live performances for “Hey“, a tune they have not played anymore since 1997.
Quality-wise, I concur with Ryne’s statement. Overall the audio is quite good and the video is watchable. For the latter, there are some parts where it gets quite dark, though they don’t last long.
Needless to say, we are dealing with a VHS rip coming with the standardized 640x480p encoding format. Total running time is about 48 minutes.
