Today we release another one of those cool “A Boy Named Goo” concerts, forwarded to us by contributor Ryne.
On August 15th, 1996 the Goo Goo Dolls performed at the Celeste Center in Columbus, OH. The show took place during the Summer Tour for the band’s fifth full length. Ryne has more info about it:
Hey Guys! I’ve got another audio-only bootleg for ya! We’re going back to 1996 for this one.
The release I’m providing you today comes from the Ohio State Fair during the 1996 leg of the ABNG tour. It was during a tour they were holding with Gin Blossoms. I don’t know if it was part of their summer tour, or a separate tour that just took place in the later part of 1996.
The setlist website seems to have no prior setlist info on this show. Although you know this is certainly Ohio State Fair when John says ‘We were on the Jay Leno show last week’.
Speaking of the set, The setlist played during this show is really quite something. Featuring a Total of 18 songs: Not only do you have ‘There you are’ and ‘We are the normal’, But you also have ‘Disconnected’ all in one setlist.
Quality-Wise: Other than maybe a little muffling/low volume, I’d say its otherwise Fair.

Like Ryne said, the show features one of those rare “Disconnected” live takes, a song they only played in a few occasions. Quality-wise, I noticed muffling and distortion throughout the whole concert, though the songs were easily distinguishable.
