Contributor Christina shares an amazing and pretty rare TV appearance John Rzeznik did back in 2001, for a cause which is greater than music.
The worldwide success of “Dizzy Up The Girl” offered the band with many opportunities for several years in numerous contexts. One of the latter had to do with social aid, an endeavor John et al. have always been happy to get involved with ever since the early days.
The year 2001 was no different, and John was chosen amongst the speakers for the non-profit humanitarian organization Red Cross, one of the most popular around the entire planet. In this case specifically, the voice of John and other musicians was in reference to one of the 21st Century’s most horrid events. Christina has a few more details to add:
Very very poor video quality on this, but it’s a bit of a (depressing) historical artifact. I remember VH1 airing PSAs like this from various musicians in the weeks & months following 9/11.
Like Christina said, the video clip is very short (less than 20 seconds) and its quality is quite lacking, as it comes with heavy distortion. This was certainly a VHS rip encoded with the standardized 640x480p format. We share it despite its flaws as a way of honoring those innocent individuals who lost their lives during 9/11.
