Contributor Christina‘s latest batch of material is approaching its end, and we continue getting from it until it’s done. Today we share a very great segment taken from the Today Show, which aired on NBC in 2002 and features three live takes.
Christina’s releases are always top notch, including the one we share in this occasion. On top of three songs performed live, John et al. are also briefly interviewed (at the beginning of the show and in-between songs) and a summary of their music career (until then) is also shown. The performances from this are posted on YouTube already (HIG, Slide, BB) but it looks like the surrounding bits are missing. Here’s the full appearance including short interview segments and a montage of clips from their VH1 “Behind the Music” special. Sorry for the missing few seconds at the start of “Black Balloon,” I guess teenage me didn’t hit the record button fast enough there.
I found Christina’s version to be clearer and crisper than the other ones already posted on YouTube. Needless to say, this is a VHS rip encoded with the standardized 640x480p format.
The missing pieces which are shown here make it an even more unique release, which we gladly add to our ever-growing archive.
