Live At The PNC Pavilion At Riverbend, Cincinnati, OH (2011)

The last release from Contributor Christina‘s latest batch is a meaty concert which streamed on the radio back in 2011.

On July 13th, 2011 the Goo Goo Dolls performed a pretty long concert at the Riverbend Music Center. The show was part of their “Something For The Rest Of Us” tour and features a very interesting track listing. First and foremost, let’s see what Christina has to say about it:

This was ripped from a radio station’s livestream; quality is limited due to the streaming standards of the time but it’s a decent show and the band sound solid. There are a handful of radio bumpers and shoutouts from the station DJs but nothing too disruptive.

I listened to it and I would say that quality is actually OK. Yes, in some parts there is distortion and also a bit of muffled noises here and there, but overall I was quite content with the radio rip. The only thing I did not like much was the overall volume being a bit low, but that’s an easy fix.

As far as the actual show is concerned, we get a total of 22 songs with a nice mix of albums being explored. Obviously they prioritized their then-latest release, but popular tunes from “Dizzy Up The Girl”, “Gutterflower”, and even “Superstar Car Wash” make some very welcomed appearances here.

Furthermore, we also get to listen to a live take for “All That You Are“, which apparently they only played during that year before discarding it from their subsequent sets in the following tours. On top of that, a stripped-down version of “Something For The Rest Of Us” is also introduced, along with a different version of “Broadway“, which is executed with an a-cappella intro.

The total running time ended up being slightly more than 90 minutes, and like Christina said this was very energetic and well-executed.
