To keep the spirit of Christmas alive here at the Temple, we share messages coming from Contributors Bailey and Ryne, along with Christmas presents from both of them.
Yesterday I received emails from two of our Contributors: Bailey and Ryne. For those who don’t know them and would like to check out their contributions to the Temple, you can browse the selected categories for the former and the latter. They both wanted to let our readers know something, and they brought presents along. Let’s see what’s lying under the Christmas Tree.
GOO PERFORMS AT TOMMY HILFIGER MS BENEFIT (1999)
Bailey wants to let you know about a very cool YouTube channel, which amongst many other Goo Goo Dolls-related content, features one of the clips discussed below. Let’s hear it directly from Bailey:
Merry Christmas!
I saw your blog post about a slowdown, and I thought I’d share something new going on in the Goo world. A new channel Oceans of Color has joined the ranks of old content. I’ve helped her fix a few of her videos because some of the sound is off, and this one was one that I fixed. She told me she has the whole show, which includes performances of Dizzy, Slide, Black Balloon, Bullet Proof!, and maybe Iris? But if you listen closely towards the end of the performance of “Slide” they start to play Bullet Proof. So far, she has this one:
It’s a really great performance too. I actually have the performance of Black Balloon which a fan emailed me a while back. Unfortunately he told me that this was a really old recording that he’d recorded off his PC or maybe TV? And the original video isn’t online anymore. Good thing is, Oceans of Color has the VHS with this on it, so there’ll be two different versions. Here’s mine:
Merry Christmas, happy new year!
Bailey
The YouTube channel she mentioned when discussing the first clip is this one. It features a nice assortment of clips mainly coming from the years 1998-2002. There are some little gems in there, stuff I have never seen before. I highly recommend you subscribe to it and check out what they have to offer.
Are some YouTube users trying to compete with the Temple? I really hope so. Competition is always good for whichever market, including the Old Goo Stuff one.
BETTER DAYS / BROADWAY (LIVE AT THE TODAY SHOW, 2005)
Ryne has also a message to share with the community, along with a couple of presents for those who dig our Download Category. Let’s hear it directly from him:
Hey fellas! It’s been a while! I think it’s been, what, Two months?
Hard to believe it’s almost Christmas as I write this.
Anyway, Love what’s been posted on the Temple since I last sent a release. I do see there has been, and probably will be for a while, A lull in postings. Though given prior attempts at saving space when I last saw, I thought maybe it was a good thing.
For now at least, I only have one release to provide for you folks. I’m bringing you something that comes from 2005.
Today we have the GGDs when they performed on the ‘Today Show’, taped in October of that year. They played Better Days and Broadway.
I think its a great performance. Audio certainly sounds great, Although the video quality is so-so.
Given there had been a lack of 2005 Shows, or other videos on YouTube prior to me joining the Temple, I thought I’d add on to the content from that year. The original video i found came from DailyMotion initially and was about 15 years old. And was actually split into two videos (Better Days and Broadway as separate videos). So i took the time to splice them together to create one video, So we don’t end up posting two videos on the temple.
That being said: Merry Christmas. Hopefully 2025 will bring some more great stuff!
In this case we get John et al. merely playing their hits “Better Days” and “Broadway” without being interviewed whatsoever.
Quality-wise, we’re looking at pretty decent video and audio content. Remember that these are VHS rips which come with limitations in both departments given the technology constrictions of that era. The standardized 640x480p encoding format was using to digitalize them.
