Our contributor Javier unearthed a very interesting and slightly personal interview John Rzeznik did back in 1993 to promote the band’s then newest release “Superstar Car Wash”.
The year 1993 was supposed to be the most important one in the Goo Goo Dolls’ career since their inception. Warner was very happy with the band’s fourth release and was betting on John et al. to actually have a real shot at achieving worldwide fame. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as intended, as we all know, and it took them two more years of hard work (and devastating internal conflicts) to finally show the planet what they were capable of.
Anyhow, during that time the band was interviewed quite a lot. In this edition of Deep Sound 1.1, John speaks out his mind on several topics, a couple of them being quite personal. This was probably done around the end of 1993, as the interviewer mentions the fact the band was beginning to work on their follow-up release. Before we dive in, let’s hear more info directly from Javier:
Hello, how are you? I found an interesting interview with John Rzeznik from Deep Sound, a magazine I found on WebArchive. It’s from 1993 and has some opinions on legalization and gives some other thoughts on the subject, including a Greatful Dead concert. Here’s the link. Thanks, and long live the Goos.
