In 1996 the Goo Goo Dolls were featured in a compilation titled “The Shredd -n- Ragan TV Theme CD”, which contained cover songs of TV opening themes. It was only distributed and sold in Buffalo, NY. for charity purposes. Among the other collaborators, we can also find their longtime friend Lance Diamond.

Stand Alone (A Boy Named Goo outtake)
Today I am sharing one of the rarest Goo Goo Dolls songs, which only appeared in an early advance copy of “A Boy Named Goo”.
As you can see from the pictures above, this advance copy was only sent out to radio stations and magazines as a way to promote the upcoming album. There are a few differences when compared to the final release, such as the song “Ain’t That Unusual” being named “Someday“, and “Eyes Wide Open” being the album’s last song. Song 11, “Stand Alone“, was written by George Tususka and only appears in this advance version. After he was fired from the band, another promo copy of the album was released, whereby the song had been taken out and replaced with two covers, “Disconnected” and “Slave Girl“.
