Hello Goo Goo Dolls fans. Today I want to share with you some details about one of the oldest hidden secrets about the band’s past, which apparently has been finally solved. In 1995 the album “A Boy Named Goo” was released, and it represented the fifth effort since the act originally formed exactly ten years before. I think I don’t need to talk about the album much per se, as I’m sure you all already know plenty about such breakthrough release. What I want to discuss, instead, has to do with a couple of minor details about the origins of the album, artistically and title-wise.

Figure 8 feat. Mike Malinin – “Hush”

Some time ago an individual named Ryan Sanders sent me an email through the Get In Touch page. He told me that he plays in a band called Figure 8, and that they recorded a song with none other than Mike Malinin on drums. To those who don’t know who Mike is (the very few of you!): he is the one who replaced the original drummer George Tutuska in 1995. He was part of the Goo Goo Dolls until 2013.

VH1 Behind The Music (1999)

Back in 1999, VH1 aired a 45-minute documentary about the Goo Goo Dolls. I’m sure a lot of fans have already watched this material. It was easily streamable online for a few years before it disappeared from the world wide web. It recently resurfaced on YouTube.
