I may be a little late to the party, but nevertheless here I am. I really need to make a post about this opportunity, as it offers a chance to listen to some of the songs from their big catalog that haven’t been played in a long time.
It looks like the band is getting (finally) more open to suggestions from their fans, in terms of concert setlists. Some time ago, the Goo Goo Dolls created a Google Pool entry whereby people can vote which songs they want them to play during their 2023 Summer Tour, called “The Big Night Out”, that will be performed along with O.A.R.

And to those who wonder what I voted… I went for “On The Lie” off of my favorite album and yes, you guessed it… “Ain’t That Unusual“. I know a lot of people were curious about how the latter sounded live and wondered why they only played it four times during the “A Boy Named Goo” tour before completely discarding it. The reason was, according to Mike, it did not feel right when they tried it, and decided to simply not play it anymore. Maybe this time we get the chance for a long, overdue comeback of one of their best songs.

I went for On The Lie as well.
Only One as well because it’s probably the most aggressive song you could choose from what was available.
We’ll get Long Way Down and Cuz You’re Gone as the “deep cuts” though. Almost guaranteed. Maybe The Pin. John mentioned it in an interview recently.
On the Lie was one of my choices too. Would love to see Cuz, but I’d bet that one is gone forever.
They pulled Long Way Down out for a recent corporate show a week or so ago, so maybe that’s an indication we’ll see it back in rotation this summer.
I want this poll to carry some weight with the band. I’m not holding my breath though. Pretty sure they’ll do what they want regardless.
Did you see they tweeted a “Summer setlist” playlist recently? Cuz you’re gone was on it. I think that was deliberate. Honestly believe it will be back in rotation.

It’s on spotify. Nothing else notable except maybe Long Way Down and Let Love In which they played some last year but isn’t a regular.
We’ll see… Those two songs only is quite disappointing…
Maybe but I’m not getting my hopes up lol I think Robby could be convinced, but Johnny has dug his heels in with the old stuff. tbh I think he’s uncomfortable with his past, musically and personally, and wouldn’t play even Name or Iris if he could help it.
What? Oh my gosh that would be amazing! Unfortunately they are not coming to my city this year so I don’t think I’ll be able to see them this year, but I’m crossing my fingers they’ll come next year and bring that song with it
I was having a hard time choosing for SSCW but I decided to go with Cuz You’re Gone even though I doubt they will do that one. What really annoyed me was the fact that Hold Me Up wasn’t even an option! I would’ve gone with Two Days In February for that one. Chose Ain’t That Unusual for ABNG too though. Great song and I would love to hear it live!
