Live At Lafayette Square, Buffalo, NY (1993)

Today contributor Bailey sent us a YouTube link featuring an amazing concert which took place during the “Superstar Car Wash” summer tour in 1993.

I remember owning this in VHS before it got lost. The setlist entry for it can be located here. Notice how the band decided to play the song “Car Wash” by Rose Royce as an intro tune before jumping on stage, a clear reference to the title of the album.

The video was originally uploaded by Rolling Rockvideos. According to Bailey, there may be another version of it somewhere. Below is her train of thought:

I’m not sure if you’ve made a post about this of not, but today I was reading over the comments on the post you made about the Superstar Car Wash CD release party, and saw that Al Baker had said something about filming “Thursday At The Square”– (the annual show the city of Buffalo hosted at Lafayette square) but it wasn’t on youtube yet, that he knew of. Now, this version I found was most likely not filmed by him, but by someone else. This person was far back in the crowd, but from where they were, you could see multiple other cameras rolling–which suggests there could be better footage out there. (And hopefully Al Baker posts his version someday)

If Al Baker is reading this: It’s time to unleash it, man! Make it a Temple Of Goo exclusive release.

You can watch the concert below.

  1. Love this show! The energy is great and the guys look really happy to be playing for a big crowd of friends, family, and old fans.
Al Baker is very friendly. He has a public FB page and has been open to sharing some older Goo stories with fans in the past. Maybe consider reaching out?
