On September 30th, 2023, founding member and bassist Robby Takac celebrates his 59th birthday. Our contributor Bailey would like to share a little something she created for him.
Bailey mentioned a present for Robby to be delivered this week, and she kept her promise. I will copy-and-paste her comment below. On the off-chance that Robby will get to read this post someday, I also want to wish him an amazing birthday, on top of thanking him for his precious contributions to the band.
Wow, it’s almost that time of year! You know, I’ve always wanted to do something special for Robby. I’ve done tributes to him and John, just John, all three Dolls, but never just Robby. That was mainly because I didn’t have the pictures to. . .but after extensive years of collecting, I’ve finally come down with the ultimate collection (which is to say, a lot more than a lot of people have of him).
Ok, well I would explain my video, but I already did in the description, so I’m just going to paste that here:
“I’d like to take this time to wish Robby a happy 59th birthday! Born on this day (September 30, 1964) all those years ago. Don’t we all love Robby? It’s his outgoing personality, seemingly unlimited energy and infectious humor. And, not to mention, his amazing songwriting! Now, most Goo Goo fans probably overlook Robby’s songs, and no I don’t know why, because they’re just as amazing as Johns! (Mainly those from the “Jed” to “Boy” era) His lyrics are really touching, and his songs are really catchy and melodic. It’s taken me a while to collect all these pictures of Rob because sadly, no one seems to have them. But I’m here now with a bunch from my collection, ranging from Robby at four years old (1:22) to around 2004. The thumbnail is –I’m assuming–a high school picture of him. That’s one of the first pictures on this video, and it was taken from a VH1 episode (no, that screenshot was not taken by me, but if anyone has that episode, please, please share it with us!)”
Ok, just a heads up, you’ll probably see this before the 30th, and until then, my video is scheduled to post on Sept. 29th late at night my time, which might be different from your time, so just bear with me. If the video is unavailable before then, that’s why. It should publish at that time, but if not, I’ll fix it as soon as possible.
I also want to say. . .if you noticed, I used your favorite Superstar Car Wash Robby song, “Another Second Time Around”. I would’ve done Burnin’ Up if I’d had less pictures, or maybe “Don’t Worry” because I really like that song. But I’m also really fond of this song, which is why I used it.
You can watch Bailey’s video below:
Furthermore, she made a short version of another tribute video we discussed here, which you can watch below as well:
Thanks again for the amazing stuff as always, Bailey!
I fixed the video so it should be published now
