The next release from contributor Christina is the semi-official music video for the first single off “Gutterflower”.
I know many of our readers have already seen this one, but I felt it was a good idea to add it to our archive. I always found it strange that the Goo Goo Dolls released their long-awaited “Dizzy Up The Girl” sequel’s first single without an official music video for it. Maybe some of you didn’t know, but the actual clip for “Big Machine” was not commissioned by the label. Christina has more details to offer:
“Big Machine” didn’t really have an official music video, despite being released as a single for the Gutterflower album. In lieu of that the band filmed this promo performance for the now-defunct UPN TV network. Obviously due to the giant logo this couldn’t be aired on VH1 or other channels, and I don’t know that it got much airtime on UPN beyond the premiere. This aired during a block of shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and was introduced by James Marsters.
Pretty weird, considering the single did perform quite well on the charts. If you do happen to know why such decision was taken, feel free to add your thoughts to the comments section below.
In terms of the file itself, we’re looking at your typical VHS rip with the standardized 640x480p encoding format. Quality-wise, not bad all all despite the original medium it comes from.
