Contributor Christina keeps sending us material, making the Temple work overtime. That is good news, which I’m sure our readers are pretty happy about. Today’s release is a live take for one of the Goo Goo Dolls’ most famous songs, recorded during a special event.
In 2003 a tribute show in honor of Dale Earnhardt took place. I am no NASCAR racing follower but apparently he was a big deal, judging by his Wikipedia page which is filled with all kinds of awards. John et al. were amongst the bands invited to perform in his memory. Christina has some thoughts to share about it:
This concert was held in June 2003 at Daytona International Speedway, as a tribute to the legendary NASCAR driver and a benefit for the Dale Earnhardt Foundation. The Goos appeared to play one song, “Slide.” No idea if The Intimidator himself was a Goo fan, but it’s a solid performance and the band seem to be having a lot of fun here.
I don’t have much to add, besides mentioning that this is obviously a VHS rip coming with the standardized 640x480p encoding process. Quality-wise, I am pretty surprised: this one looks very good, in my opinion.
