Jay Leno Performances (1999-2001)

The Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 breakthrough album offered the chance to perform on numerous famous US TV shows, including what probably was one of the most prolific in the entire USA televised media history: The Jay Leno Show.

Today I am sharing a total of three performances the band did on the Jay Leno show in the span of two years, from 1999 to 2001.

For starters, we have the “Two Days In February” one, which appeared on the May 25th, 2001 episode. This was to promote the release of their upcoming compilation “Ego, Opinion, Art, And Commerce“. The latter featured a re-recorded take of that very same song, along with remastered versions of old classics.

Secondly, a short and funny cover for The Supremes’ song “Baby Love“, which appeared on the April 20th, 2000 episode.

Last but not least, the performance for their 1999 single “Black Balloon“, which aired on July 9th, 1999.

Now, onto the not-so-good part of the post. Whoever ripped these did not encode them at decent bitrates. Consider that a 192kbps encoding job is considered the minimum in terms of quality. Sadly, the versions I have come with bitrates which are even lower:

  • Two Days In February” has only 64k (!!!!)
  • Baby Love” has 128k
  • Black Balloon” has 160k

Nevertheless, they are certainly listenable, however when it comes to ripping audio you always want to encode it using the highest possible achievable bitrate, as a way to avoid any quality loss. This is what I have, consequently this is what I can share. If you happen to have better versions, send them over.

You can listen to the performances below. Download links are available at the end of this post.
