Slide (Live In Studio, 2018)

One of my sources just forwarded to me an acoustic performance of “Slide“, supposedly recorded in studio just a few years back.

I don’t have much information about today’s release, an acoustic take for the single “Slide” which comes with great audio quality. The file itself is tagged as a 2018 release, and named as a recording which was taken live in studio. The latter basically means the band was in a studio and recorded the whole song in a single take, rather than doing sessions in which each instrument is recorded separately.

I tried my Googling skills on it but came out empty. I am not sure whether or not this was included in a release, but I doubt it. It is certainly not part of my archive. Hence, I thought it was worth sharing. If you happen to know where this was taken from or released, please write a comment in the dedicated section below.

In the meantime, you can enjoy it. I certainly did, as I think this is one of the best live take for one of the Goo Goo Dolls’ most famous tunes ever released.

You can listen to the song below. Download links are available at the end of this post.

EDIT: According to collaborator Bailey, this is likely a 1998 or 1999 recording. I will keep the post unmodified until an official confirmation is found.

  1. this isn’t from 2018! I know what John’s voice sounds like now, and this definitely isn’t it. This has got to be from back in 1998/1999, probably the latter even.
I thought it may have been a demo at first but I heard a bit of cheering at the end, so my guess is that this was performed live at someplace, or maybe in front of people in a studio? Hard to tell, but I know this is from the Dizzy era, just by the style of the music and Johnny’s voice.
