The next release from contributor Christina is about live takes some of our readers have been asking for quite some time.
The Goo Goo Dolls took part to many TV appearances on famous US shows since “Dizzy Up The Girl” was issued back in 1998. One of the most iconic one is certainly their live performances at the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, which ran for 22 seasons before the main host called it quits in 2014. We had already posted three of them here, although in audio-only format.
Today we share two live takes that took place at that venue, specifically the ones for “American Girl” and “Two Days In February“, which both were aired in 2001. These performances were aimed at promoting the release of remasters included in the compilation “What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce“.
Let’s see what Christina has to say about the live take for “Two Days In February“:
I saw that Bailey has been on the lookout for this… so Bailey, it’s your lucky day! A nice performance promoting the (underrated) “Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce” compilation. Note Mike’s pared-down drum kit. I’ve included the quick show outro as well.
In terms of “American Girl“, Christina clarifies that there are other versions of the same clips she shared with us on YouTube, however, in reference to her files, she states:
These videos are purely quality upgrades… these appearances are already on YouTube but all look more pixelated than mine. I suspect most of the existing uploads are the old Videopimp files that you’ve mentioned in the past. These late night appearances are pretty straightforward, so there’s not much to say on my end.
These clips are VHS rips created with the standardized 640x480p format, overall quality is actually very good.
In the spirit of transparency, I have included in the download section both the two clips Christina originally sent me, and the unified one. The latter, embedded below, was created with a special program which prevents quality loss when merging files together, so do not worry about losing not even a single bit of quality over such conversion.
I know some of our readers were on the lookout for the “Two Days In February” performance for quite some time. I hope you will enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed posting it. And don’t forget: You should thank Christina, not me!

Contributor Bailey has uploaded another copy to Vimeo, although only the performance for “Two Days In February” is present, while “American Girl” is missing. Yeah it has been a good while of searching for me….I’m also in love with that compilation, which is so drastically underrated, but I’m hoping to bring it some life by posting all the remixes. Can you believe the Goos haven’t put it anywhere? Not YouTube, not Spotify, not Apple Music, nothing!
