Slide (Live At Jay Leno, 1998)

When “Iris” was all the rage and it was time for the Goo Goo Dolls to release their next, definitive single to demonstrate “Dizzy Up The Girl” had more firepower within it than just the “City Of Angels” track, “Slide” certainly excelled at that goal. One of its earlier, most memorable performances that aired on live TV is now available again thanks to contributor Christina.

We have already shared some appearances the band has made over the years at the famous Jay Leno show. Specifically:

Today we had one more Jay Leno performance to our archive, forwarded to us by Christina. Let’s see what she has to say about it:

Hello, Temple of Goo –

I know it’s been a while since I reached out, but I found something tonight that might be of interest. Here is the Goos’ performance of “Slide” on Jay Leno back in 1998, as well as their interview segment after with some funny quips from John

Credit goes to Oakley Tapes on Internet Archive who preserved the entire episode; I’ve just trimmed out the portion relevant to our interests. 🙂

Hope you’re having a great vacation!

Christina

The video is obviously a VHS rip coming with a personalized size (720x480p). Apparently it was encoded with a low number of frames per second, which makes the images stutter a bit as it is being played. Nonetheless, this is very rare material which we are glad to add to the Temple. After the performance, there is a short interview with the band, if you want to call it that way.

You can watch the video below. Download links are available at the end of this post.
